93 850 Paint
Just wondering if anyone knows what type of paint/clear was used on the early 850's. Thanks

I have a red 1994 850, and it is a single stage paint, not base coat clear coat. It had faded to the point of chalking, but came back with buffing and wax.

Volvo recommends PPG single stage for solid colors. I just purchased some for my car.

It's hard to say, but I would guess that it is either Akzo Nobel or Glasurit. I repainted our 93' with Glasurit 55 line basecoat/clearcoat and the color match was spot on. Did our BMW in R-M Diamont and am going to paint the 97' in R-M.
I just had to repair the 93' after it was backed in to and did a quick compound/polish on the rest of the car and it looks as good as the day I painted it in 2006. And I live in AZ with no garage! I always recommend Diamont.

189 Polar White is the 1993 color.
I believe it lasted a few years.
I found out a bit about it.
Twice the trouble, but paint feathering can be easier with this color.
