96 960 Rack & Pinion boot leak

Post by vvarady »

I noticed a slight leak on the passenger side boot when under my car. It does not drip yet.
I'm the original owner, around 100K miles and original parts.

What does it mean and what are my options ?

Thanks

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Is the boot intact and the clamps tight? Usually a leak from that point would indicate the start of a rack failure. I have known them go for thousands of miles with a slight weep of fluid. At this stage I would suggest that you clean off the leak and check regularly to see if it gets worse.

Thanks for the input, I will clean it up and monitor.
What was the leak stop you used just in case.
