what about ignoring p0135 (2000 v70 132k)

Post by C@lvin »

A new 02 Sensor is over $250.00

Are there any negative (i.e. costly) consequences of leaving the failed front 02 Sensor and not replacing it? I understand that fuel economy and/or performance may suffer, but is it going to kill the cat or something else highly undesirable?

Thanks.

Calvin, you don't want to do this. If the engine is running to lean you can do costly internal engine damage.

Vendors on this Board sell the O2 sensor for about 112 USD btw.

Apparently, the 2000 NA engine (as mine is) requires the Denso part if my reading is correct. The least expensive I found was FCP for $248 (eeuroparts only offers Bosch). If anyone knows a better source and price for the Denso part, please let me know.

Thanks.

I have a Denso front (upstream) sensor part number 234-9020 or 15558 made in USA for a 2000 V70 or S70. I want only what I paid for it. PM me if this interests you.

I just bought a Bosch 15558 front oxygen sensor from FCP for $203.11. Free shipping.
If you buy one, could you please measure the resistance between black wires?

You can use the Bosch or the Denso in the 2000 V70 or S70 NA. The numbers cross reference to each other in both cases.

I've had a Bosch one in my Denso V70 for almost a year and it works just fine.

The resistance across the black wires should be just under 2 ohms. Mine is 1.7 ohms

Thanks for the resistance numbers.
My used one had 0 resistance on the heater circuit.

Is the heater circuit the two black wires as you guys stated already or is it the two white wires per this youtube video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eBefRoZRFY

Seems like it would be an important distinction.

I've been looking at pictures of the Denso on the web and so far all I can see is one blue, one black, and one white????

Thanks

Earlier O2 sensors had only three wires. Most newer ones have four wires. My '92 960 had a 3 wire and the heater circuit was the white wires. These newer Densos use the black wires as the heater circuit and there are 4 in total, the other two being blue and white.

My 2000 V70 took the same part and it had 4 wires./ the Denso catalogue has the wrong image.

Have you heard of the game Chinese whispers? That's how all the sellers end up with the wrong image

You can see here that FCPs image has that apparently blank spot filled: http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-o ... 0-234-9020
and the equivalent Bosch O2 sensor: http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-o ... osch-15558

Thanks. I will finally get a chance to measure the resistance on the heater circuit this weekend.

BTW (just curious) your information says you are from Melbourne......is that Florida, Australia, or some other Melbourne?
