Excellent posts. I was slowly working up that picture in my head after reading threads here and elsewhere. Now I need the amp and harness. Since my Volvo wrecker already dished out the 901 and Dolby processor in part trade for my 960 (I miss you....:() I will offer him a hundred bucks for the amp and harness. I reckon that's a bargain after looking for two months on Ebay and forums.

Thanks a bunch castinconcrete, I may be calling you when the SHTF under the dash.

If I didn't mention it before, the staid PO never cranked his stereo, so the speakers are rattle/distortion free.

Then you bought a Dolby processor and not the AMP, it goes behind the radio and looks like a small amp
The right AMP (ANY Volvo AMP) will fit into the right plug

I have a SC901 and 4x45 behind-the-HU amp, looking for a bit more out of the system. Does adding the Dolby processor require a separate power source, or is it just the one cable they typically are sold with? Also, would there be enough room behind the HU for the Dolby and the amp? I'm guessing not, and that is the reason for the underseat mounted amp on the V70Rs. Maybe I could mount the Dolby unit under the seat, using an extended cable . . . .

Adding the Dolby processor requires no extra power.
Behind the radio is not enough room for both, a very hot spot and zero air circulation. Between the two I think the amplifier should be mounted under the seat.

Thanks Dragos. My amp is mounted and wired in with iPod connect behind the HU, so it seems simpler to mount the dolby under the seat, as there would only be the one cable to extend. Assuming I went that direction, anyone know where to buy a 4-foot(?) cable? Thanks.

Not available.
It would have to be custom made.

Well my pieces are all here, but I can't visualize the under dash arrangement. I know where the Dolby goes after being in there for a heating core and seeing pics. Is there a thread with pics someone can post?

It must be well away from the HU judging by the length of the harness.
