Hello- My 2000 V70 is idleing aweful. Surges at stop lights. Just really runs like crap, runs really rough. My wife's 2000 V70 runs pretty smooth, doesn't accelerate as hard. And just runs a ton better. Is it the ETM? Can these be cleaned with success? Or am I looking at another ETM? Thanks!

I was having simular problems on my 1999 non turbo v70, she would surge at the lights, dip under 500rpm and repeat
After an ETM replacement she's all gold again

Bob..the are a lot of things that can cause this , vacuum leaks, ignition parts, etc
Replacing the electronic throttle body is major surgery , so check the little things first

Is there an easy way to diagnose if it's those small things? maybe I should take it in? Or can a code reader disgnose if vacuum leak, igniotion etc? I'm not the best with cars, I can do the small things but I tend to stay away from the bigger projects. If it's a non Turbo then the ETM is easy to remove from the inlet manifold to clean, takes about 20 minutes, if the car is a Turbo model it will take you more like three hours the first time you do it as it is more awkward for access to get at it. A clean of the inlet in the ETM might reduce the issue if the butterfly is sticking due to carbon build up, it is a cheap fix if it works, if it's the potentiameters that have failed within the ETM it is best removed then sent away for repair IMHO - Mike
