My 850 came with the manual climate control so I've only had to repair it. The drivers side heat control didn't function on mine so I pulled the control unit and repaired the cam/gear assembly that is behind the temperature knob. Getting the manual version out is next to impossible due to the control cables.

I see the automatic control heads on eBay and thought about trying to convert to automatic but they are totally different animals and the retrofit would be a nightmare.

I think the car I had with the bad automatic climate control was a Chrysler Concorde. A junk yard unit fixed that one.

I bought a used auto-ECC off eBay yesterday. Should I be concerned about plugging it in without knowing what caused it to fail in the first place? Can a short in the wiring or one of the motors damage the ECC or will it just set a code and not work right? Should I take it to a shop and have them put a tester on it? The old one burned a cap while the car was running but the ECC was OFF so I'm thinking it was just a bad cap...
