Gremlins?

I just purchased my 1st volvo.. a 2001 v70 xc awd.. no prior info on the car. car was turned off with key out of the ignition when i walked passed the car and heard a fan blowing... my 1st thought was it was the radiator cooling fan... but it was not ,,, it was the interior a/c blower fan.. blowing at full speed.. tried to shut it off but the knob didnt work.. put the key in turned the car on the shut it off and the fan stopped... 2 days later as i was looking for the cabin air filter the blower turned on again... no keys in the ignition... is this normal... read the owners manual and didnt see anything...

Not normal.. But my 01 xc did that occasionally!! Never did it long enough to drain the bAttery luckily

Actually it is normal. The fan comes on when a sensor detects too much moisture in the A/C system. This will keep mold and odors down. It will not run the battery down.

My 2004 V70 was constantly blowing for a while and would not shut off, even several hours after car was stopped. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to shut down. I replaced it with a S80 unit from my junkyard and it solved that problem. It was a slight pain to replace but no more all night fan blowing.

You can have the dealer turn off the feature. When you scan the car with Vida it appears in the installed options list.
