Fit a length of 5/8" hose to the lower port where the PCV tank connects to the block and try blowing through it, if you can't then it is still blocked, mine was, in the end the only way to clear this out is to remove the sump.
The blow by on my V70 was far worse after changing the PCV so much so that it was blowing oil out of the dipstick tube and became difficult to even drive, in the end I swapped the engine out for a newer one, drastic but better the car you know than starting again, I hope yours isn't as bad - Mike

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I just got back from a mini-vacation with my family, and I'll be getting under the Volvo today to see if I can find anything out. Going to order the PVC repair kit from FCP Groton. This all started when I "fixed" that, so it's probably the best place to start.
Also going to do a compression test. See what the cylinders are doing.
Thanks again, and I'll keep you posted.

have you ordered your parts yet
reason I ask, is I think cn90 recently did a write up on doing it ....on the cheap....yet better
yes you still need some new parts, but the big expensive long hose he used a different cheap one, larger, that helped cars breathe better with high miles. Im about to do one on my mom in laws car and will be doing it with the large hose rather than the factory ($$$) hose
yes blow through that return. the last one I did was pretty pluggged
also you should do an oil change after,
is itt blowing oil out of the oil filler cap with the cap on,,,,might just need a new gasket too, cheap, order when getting other parts.
one other small item, for me , when I did one a few years back ( have done several since) while wigglingthe dipstick tube, that o ring went bad, so now I keep a new spare in my tool box
im lazy, you can hunt for the link to the repair, it might even be in the diy section
and if you want to take the time, and your going to do the "cheap" repair you can actually get the oem parts cheaper through Darrell waltrip Volvo. then fcp or ipd you just need to come up with the original numbers
I harldly mess around with fcp anymore since finding walltrip

ok waiting on someone
so if your trying to do your pcv cheap
these guys I use for ordering parts, they often beat fcp etc or within a few bucks to make it worth while to go original Volvo
http://www.trademotion.com/parts/2004/V ... CallOut=10
they don't have the best detail parts catalog, if I need that then I go to these guys get the numbers and back to waltrip
http://www.volvopartswebstore.com/default.aspx
you will have to reset for your cars
