2002 C70 Convertible Turning Radius
When I test drove my C70 I told the dealer the turning radius was too tight and creaked when I got to the end whether left or right. He said No problem and that it was normal with the C70. Bought the car and had my mechanic (a Volvo specialist) check it over. He found nothing wrong. Couple weeks later I had the front end aligned at Mavis and he checked it over and said all was OK. Is the turning radius on the C70 really that tight? Unless I really plan ahead, pulling into a parking place requires a 3 point turn. Also seems like a lot of creaking going on when I'm turning too hard at the end of the radius. Sounds like Volvo really screwed up on their design. My mechanic says "YUP, That's the C70." ARE YOU C70 OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM?

Normal. The creaking is the stop piece on the steering knuckle hitting the stop plate on lower control arm. Grease applied to the stop plate can get rid of the creak at least for a while.
When I drove 98 and 2000 C70's I had the same experience. I have a 2004 V70R and it is a large turning radius car also. My F450 crew cab truck has a much shorter turning radius.

Glad to hear this is normal. My 2000 does the same thing. Wasn't worried about the wide radius (though it is annoying when I need to make a U-turn and have to pray I can make it on a 4 lane road) as much as the creaking. This is just what I logged in to check for. Thanks!

Definitely normal. My 2002 C70 is the exact same way. The car creaks and groans whenever I try to pull into any parking space or make any sharp turns. I'm slowly getting used to it but you definitely have to plan ahead when parking or doing U-turns.

They don't turn like a truck, they are worse. I have a crew cab Ford F450 and its turning radius is far smaller than the C70 I had or the V70R I now have. Parking spaces in shopping centers I can get in directly with truck require backing and a second effort in those cars.

I have a 2004 C70 and it turns like an old lady with arthritis! People turn around and look when I turn into a parking spot and not to admire the car but see what clunker is making that horrendous noise. Cannot wait to get rid of it.
I think it might be the wheel size. I have a v70 NA with steel 15"rims, and it has a normal turning radius. My C70, which came with 18" from factory, has a way way larger turning circle.
When I first got home in my C70 I turned too late when coming into my driveway I nearly knocked out the letterbox
