Intercooler tubing sizing

Post by iKernel »

Quick question, have two, separate posts...
My riggin' (it is what it sounds like) on the intercooler hose leading upwards from the turbo to the intercooler tube on my 1999 V70XC is toast. I am looking to replace it with preferably a silicone hose and would opt to piece it out at the moment due to catching up to the initial maintenance I've performed on my vehicle. Checking out Snabb, there is a Mishimoto (???) 2.25" to 2.75" tube that looks like it would fit. After measuring the hose (refusing to remove until it's replaced, measurements approximate at best, hose is a bit, well, melted) the measurements are pretty close (2.25" on the tubing diameter, 2.5" roughly at the threading, 2.75" roughly at the turbo). On the other hand there is a set available through EuroSport that is a Samco set that looks pretty spot on. Seeing as there is not much else out there aside from OEM Volvo (also seemingly difficult to source, at least through the usual IPD and FCP parts). Any suggestions? I'd like to stick to silicone hoses as part of my plan of action in maintenance during the summer months.

If you want silicone, I don't think you'll be able to find individual parts, only a kit. During my search two years ago, FCP had the cheapest kit.

Thanks much... After some consideration though I am springing for the Samco set on Monday. Definitely worth it, as much rubber replaced with silicone under the hood for the summer.

Ordered the Samco set tonight... $162. Didn't thoroughly check FCP or visit them prior... Their silicone set must still be the best deal. Regret not visiting their site first but still have some silicone on the way.

Both sets are pretty solid. FCP's prices on some parts are at a ridiculously good deal. Can't wait to place an order with them, one particular thing on the build list that they have at a price lower than the company's website.

As it turns out, on back order at Eurosport until May 1st. Cancelled order (although I'll keep the site on deck) and placed order with FCP. Also picked up a new side marker. Probably the best dumb luck so far!
