Anybody replace blower without removing dash?

Looks like my blower resistor needs replacing. Proper way to replace blower motor and resistor is to remove dash. 7 hours labor.
Internet has few posts of blower being replaced without dash removal. Looks like you break off one of the blowers mounting tabs. 1 hour labor,
Has anybody replaced blower without removing dash?
Any tips will be help full, as I plan on doing this job soon. Blower resistor ordered, have fan fuse pulled which wife does not like

I am having this same issue with my 2005 XC90. My husband is planning to replace mine soon. We've not yet ordered the parts and he is wanting a repair manual as a guide for this job. We would appreciate any resources available to assist please. Myself and girls are "HOT"! Thank You!!!!

Replaced my fan resistor today. Not that hard of job, took me 2 hours. Dealer wanted 10 hours labor to take out dash.
Remove panel held in place with two screws located under dash with light hole in it.
Pull back carpet and insulation right side passenger floor. Just enough to get access to fan. Do not be shy to cut insulaion, you will never know its missing.
Looking under dash you will see four of five 25 torx screws that hold fan into place. Remove 4 screws, pull fan down, 5th screw mount will break off easily.
Fan, motor and resistor are all in one piece. To get resistor out, just pop off plastic cover on back of fan motor, remove two 25 torx screws that hold motor and fan to fan housing.
Installing fan had little bit of problems getting fan back in. Trimmed insulation around fan access hole and fan went right in.
Fan mounted tight with four screws, works great now.
