There are a few write-ups for dash tab repairs. ALWAYS repair those when you have the dash apart. It's best to use metal and brace the parts.
I used a write-up that Tech did on the VolvoForums.com website. I also used the Kodak S70 instructions that were available 2 years ago before they took that system down. They are very simular.

Much slower day today. I have so much coolant in the car I spent the morning removing seats, draining coolant from foam and being hot, sticky, smelly and irritable .
AllData has given me a couple of curve balls in the procedures ..I spent 15 minutes looking for the cruise vacuum control...before I figured out this ETB car doesn't have it.
The gas pedal and position sensor bolts to the heater through bulkhead connection on this car so I had to figure that too.
After removing the ECC bolts, it won't budge from the dash. After you draw it back , and LIFT, it comes away easily !

I'm waiting for the snap on tool to come today to remove the evaporator lines and do the repair work. I have a lot of coolant to clean off the rugs, so I'm not in a huge rush. I even took the driver seat out so I can have the leather restitched while the car is offline.
When you guys need this tool, PM me and I can send you the tool so that it gets down right.
I also have two broken dash connect points. I'll JB weld the plate back in.
I'm taking lots of pix
I don't even want to know what you paid for the Snap On tool...

Used this 2 days ago to remove the quick disconnects, also the one on the drier...

OK - decision time. Ive decided Im going to replace all (eight) cooling group hoses since I want another 50k miles out of this car.
Aftermarket (40 USD) or VOLVO (120 USD) for the two heater hoses coming off the block to the heater firewall junction (which will be new)?
What say the experienced??
thanks in advance

Quick update
My a/c removal tools came today, and in one hour I....
Separated the AC lines from evaporator
Removed the Electronic climate control unit (ECC)
In installed the new evaporator
Reinstalled ECC
Don't buy the SnapOn tool referenced in the post above...expensive and not well made
More to come...

Three hours today....and the T5 lives!!!!
Replaced heater core and dashboard, reconnected, filled coolant with water, reinstalled all airbags.
Connected battery and SRS system powered up and self checked ok.
Started her up and let it get hot, ECC blows hot air, and no leaks!
I still have some hoses coming and trim to put back, but its driveable!

Thanks JB. I will work on the write up this weekend.
Removing the v70 dash physically is a two person job IMHO. On the V70 you have to bring it to the rear over the steering column while tipping it up to clear the front lip. I did it solo, with very careful use of the dash Centre of Gravity. I'm not uber strong but my spouse reminds me most can't single arm push-up on both sides.
You do need a 1/4 universal joint on socket to get the heater hose firewall connection torx screws out. The turbo is jammed up tight against them
I don't have my AC back up yet..the hold down nut on the AC lines is spinning the nut in the frame member so I think I will have to drill that out.
If I do run out of time when my next contract starts May 1, I can farm replacing the hoses to mechanic. I think I have saved at least 10 hours at 110 ER hour plus tax......1200 clams!!
