850 parking brake cable

Removed right side parking brake cable as it stopped working due to internal corrosion.
it started rusting where the cable attaches in front of the wheel well.

The brake end of the cable is held by a pin on the brake spreader linkage.
The pin appears pressed in to the body of the linkage so how does one remove the cable end from the linkage?
Does the replacement cable come with a new linkage?

Figured it out after seeing parts on eEuroparts.
The end of the cable slips into the cylindrical holder on the linkage.
The linkage is sold separately.

Exactly!

Just to make it easy for the next person reading this the end of the cable slips into the barrel that is between your finger and thumb. The old one will fight coming out.

Now that I've removed the right side parking cable it renders the left parking brake totally useless.
How did the Volvo engineers come up with this design.
If one side fails shouldn't the other side work?

Its common to design a parking brake in a loop like this for most makes of car.
