Since 1 week I own a Volvo V70 (1999) 2.5 car, wonderful, really, Had to renew the 2 drive belts, for alternator and valve train, as they were worn out, ok, that's extra money, but it was necessary.
After I came home, a bizar little problem appeared: When I turn on the key (contact ON), a number of electrical functions don't work: the electric windows, the horn, the fan, the radio, the lighter, the wipers.
I thought a weak battery, but starting the engine (which uses much current) is no problem, and then, after maybe 500 yards of driving everything works again. Stopping and parking the car, switching off, and 5 minutes later, the problem has returned..... No warning lights are ON when driving. Idling the engine for several minutes -not driving-, problem persists, only with actual driving it disappears....
And a small question: how do I remove the back seat -the backrest rear cushion, couldn't find a drawing on that, clips on the sides, what to do with them?
Crazy little problem and a question

It's the electrical portion of your ignition switch. Jiggle the key slightly and it'll stop all that nonsense.
Replacing the electrical side is the cure.

As Justin said, new ignition switch and you should be all set to go.
You will need to find your chassis # for the correct switch. You will find your chassis # in the last 6 to 8 digits of your VIN #.
From chassis # 587537, Volvo P/N would be 8650054 which lists for $57.00
To chassis # 587536, Volvo P/N would be 9447804 which lists for $57.00 as well. Good Luck,

The seat retainer clips are a serious pain in the butt. It looks like you have pried it upward but now the entire seat needs to be pressed toward the center of the car to get it to release. I have never been able to re-use the clips since they tend to get mangled during the removal process.

There is a tab on the bottom of that seat clip. What I had to do was press the clip back down so I could use a screwdriver to compress the tab while then pulling up on the clip. It should then come fully out and you can pull the seat out. This may require some force on the side that had the clip.
