Repair S40 automatic shifter?

Hello! The plastic interlock button on the automatic shifter is deteriorating and occasionally sticks in, preventing putting the car in park, etc. I'd like to replace the plastic button, but don't know how to remove the shifter itself. There's a YouTube video which shows pulling it straight up with brute force, but I don't know whether that method is for real - I don't want to destroy the knob or mechanism. (
How do I remove the entire shifter knob so I can replace the plastic interlock button?
Where can I find a part number for the interlock button?

This shows the broken plastic on the interlock, down at the bottom.


If I pull down the leather shifter boot, I can see these black plastic parts. Left and right they have tabs to hold up the boot.

I just done a replacement too, you can find a good condition knob or just the button from ebay. Though I finally get a new one from fcpeuro.com. For instructions, just check out this video
