Blower running when car is off.
Blower running when car is off.
Anyone know why the interior fan blower turns on by itself after the car has been turned off? it does not matter if the AC has been on or not. It does it off and on since we purchased it last yr. I have to turn the key to stop it. Thanks.

It also helps flatten the battery and lower its life. The dealer can reprogram the CCM to turn the feature off. It can't be done without a subscription to Vida.

The afterblow cycle is 1 - 2 min. If it runs longer get it checked.Markeetn wrote:Anyone know why the interior fan blower turns on by itself after the car has been turned off? it does not matter if the AC has been on or not. If the feature is not flattening the battery below say, 11.5 volts because you drive your car daily or at least every 2nd day, that's fine.....the charging system will freshen the battery and leave it in a fully charged state for the next start 1 or 2 days later.
When the car is parked for long periods such as 7 to 14 days or more without a restart AND you live in a region where there is much humidity the after blow function has gone off at least a dozen times. With my '01 V70XC project car almost every time I head out to start her it's dangerously low and most times flat. I've tried 2 different batteries and have charged them with trickle chargers back to a fully charged state but I get the same result 10 days later. There is no leakage in the electrical system.
I had no such problem with my '99 V70 project car which I often left 14 days in between restarts.

cool feature i guess, but not when it drains battery about once every week or 2 during the warm/hot months. on the plus side though i thought something was wrong with the electrical wiring and to find out this is normal is a bit of a relief. i was thinking a new battery would help, the battery is at least 7 yrs old and has been completely drained at least once.
any advice would be appreciated
thanks

Have load test performed on your battery.
7 years close to a batteries service life.

Thanks for all the info. The after blow is running for well over a minute or two...but good to know it's "normal". I'll have it checked or just turned off. I just hate dealing with Long Volvo in Chattanooga. Likely the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.
