Timing cover installation 04' S80 T6

I was able to remove the timing cover from my 04' S80 T6 without breaking the plastic nipple, or the 90 degree plastic fitting that sticks thru the upper center of the cover, apparently in the same area that non-turbo models have a bolt. I needed to replace my temp coolant sensor. Now I am having a hard time getting the timing cover back on. Do I need to remove the wheel and splash guard or? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
