SC-816 Malfunctioning spring handles

Just received an SC-816 to replace my SC-815 with dead CD player.

I had trouble mounting same. It would appear the spring loaded handles on the unit won't stay in the "in position." In order to mount the radio, I had to push the handles in to lower the small bar that sticks up on the side, but they won't stay in.

It appears the handles are self contained and screw on with a small metal structure, so I could just swap the clips over from the SC-815, but does anybody know the fix for this?

Make sure that the handles get pulled out all the way. The mechanism doesn't cycle to locked position unless the handles are out all the way when you push radio into opening.
