I think you had better read this car with an Autel EU-702 or Vida Dice. The readers you're using may be causing bus disturbances that trigger other items.

You can use a Chinese knock-off copy of VidA Dice or a genuine Autel from Alibaba Express. Just watch seller feedback and ratings as there's quite afew sellers.

I just ordered the Autel for $105 delivered from a seller with good feedback as I was getting tired of carrying the laptop and Dice out to the car for every scan.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Here's some more information:
1. The ABS light was on for two wheel speed sensors, I cleared the codes and they did not come back.
2. The scan tool is showing that the gear selector switch is in the correct corresponding spots (P, D, N, ect).
3. There is one code in it for an immobilizer. Sometimes the car starts and then dies instantly, restart and it is fine.
Hope that helps, I'm ripping my hair out because of this.
Tom

That's odd. ABS codes don't usually go away and not come back after clearing them if you didn't manipulate the module or harness.

Short of an actual transmission problem the only time the flashing arrow comes on is when you have an ABS module issue or ABS system issue.

Good to know. We do ABS Modules constantly for Volvos, can a bad ABS module cause the flashing up arrow AND the trans starting in 3rd? The tech working on it says the trans is mostly happy, however should be throwing gear ratio codes but isn't...
My diag guy said the up arrow is flashing very strangely, it's in a rhythm. I've seen them flash when cold erratically, but this seems to flash the same speed all the time.

That's exactly what the ABS module will cause to happen. Once the two front wheel sensor circuits drop completely out it goes into limp mode...3rd gear. And the arrow flashes constantly and not erratically. It averages the two front wheel speeds to get the speed, if one drops out it will take it from the good side, if both drop out it just goes into limp mode. With the obd codes you should be getting either p1618, 1633 or p0600. With the abs codes you're going to see 0010 and 0020 at the minimum, along with all the codes leading up to those two. Those two codes are circuit faults, you'll typically get 0022, 0032 leading up to them. That isn't including the codes for the rear sensors that are also going to be in there.

That's one of the ways that I use to determine if you have a genuine module fault or a fault on the car. You just don't go to a full blown circuit fault if it's only the module, it gradually gets to that point.

That's why I asked in post #2 if anything else was going on, but I should have been more clear.

That's strange I don't have any other codes, however I imagine because the battery has been dead it doesn't hold many codes unless you drive it. Does that sound plausible?

That pretty much sums it up. You aren't going to have any OBD codes until you drive the car and wait for them to come back.

One more questions before I begin pulling this guy out to have him rebuilt. When I pull the connector to the ABS module, the UP arrow flashes the same, however the ABS light comes on. I plug it back in, and the ABS light shuts off and the UP arrow continues blinking. Still sound like the ABS Module?
I know this is alot of questions, but I have thrown a PNP switch at it and want to be as sure as possible that this is the problem before I throw MORE parts at it!
Thanks for all the help thus far,
Tom

The abs light will come on anytime you pull the module out, you cleared the codes and it sounds like you haven't really driven the car so it's possible that's why the abs light hasn't come back on since you cleared them.

Hello again all,
I figured I would take a video of what is going on as a picture (or moving pictures in this sense) are worth a thousand words.
Still look likes it needs an ABS module? Note how when I go from L to D the light is off for a few seconds and then begins flashing away. I was incorrect when I said it very rhythmickly flashes, it is pretty inconsistent, but it is always flashing. Just figured I'd like to get the best info possible before I bite the bullet and get the ABS module rebuilt, the help thus far has been awesome.
