I have a 2000 S70 with 129k miles local Charlotte NC car. I have owned for 10 years. Just now had ETM failure and I am told even though only 129k miles that car is too old for warranty. That really blows.
What is my cheapest route. My check engine light is on for my turbo right now as well. Car is surging and RPM is going up and down... could it be the turbo light and not ETM?

What do you mean by a "Turbo Light" a 2000 should illuminate "ETS" when the ETM plays up and the CEL "Check Engine Light" when a code/ parameter is out of tolerance (often an ETS fail can trigger the CEL to come on as well). The CEL is a yellow caption in the shape of an engine.
In the UK we can get the ETM repaired for around £110 which is about $165 but I don't know what the shipping costs would be, State side you have the XemodeX fix for the ETM - Is the car a Turbo or N/A version as the N/A engine is very easy to remove the ETM, the Turbo is a little more difficult (access is more restricted) - Mike
