Please give a big round of applause to Volvo troubleshooter par excellence abscate.

Bio

"I'm a Baby boomer trained in optical physics (lasers and others) now (in my company, called CYC) developing startups in technology.

Passions
  • Family first
  • Sailing - both small dinghies and cruising Cape Cod
  • Photography
  • Home repair/construction (my wife and I just did our last roof job together, though)
  • Cars - I grew up rebuilding air cooled VWs and like fixing Volvos a lot more!!
I am also certifiably insane, but the paperwork has not cleared yet."

His candidacy for MVS Moderator was unmistakable when he gracefully guided discussion a week ago. Just about knocked me flat, actually.

Matt...my pleasure and I hope I can meet the high bar set by the Mods here.

I moderate a couple of sailing Boards, and for those of you who know anything about sailing, that's a pretty nasty crowd compared to the level of knowledge here. On the sailing Boards, we have threads like "100 ways to tell a poster you don't have a clue, politely."

The expertise here on MVS was instrumental in me deciding to bring back my T5 to life for my three new teen drivers....now I have to figure out how to get rid of all that boost I just found...

I'm known to enjoy a good play on words joke since laughter is one of the unbeatable defenses against meetings, consultants, and Oracle salespeople.

Welcome to the team!

You've been very helpful around here - keep up the good work.

One of the things i love about MVS is that theres not much of that snark around here - just helpful people. We need one of those "100 ways to say you have no idea" threads though...

Hi Steve,
As one who has just come in from a phenomenal late afternoon/evening of sailing on Lake Calhoun, (not exactly Boston Harbor, where i have enjoyed the sport as well), preceded by getting the top side of a '96 855 almost back together, I feel a sort of kinship and glad to have you aboard (on board?)!

Jim ...that's MSP isn't it? I think I have sailed there...one of my boats Forums is based out of Minneapolis

Snark in the auto forum world seems contained to a few things...oil grades/types, outrageous mileage claims, 1999 was the best year for the V70.....

Sailing boards seem to create entire fleets of self proclaimed experts on non-linear hydrodynamic flow coefficients..I'm sure there is a Froudian explanation for some of it.....

Photography Boards are probably the only ones that are worse...jeeesh...

100 ways to educate the , errrr, less-than-enlightened??

Number 72 "Check that fact, I think thinking has evolved on that recently ....
