Hi, Folks,
After owning a 1984 244Ti and 1996 855R, I now have a meticulously cared for 2001 v70XC with 100,000 miles. The prior owners upgraded to his & hers Polestar XC70 and S60Rs.
Naturally, the handling of the XC is far less sharp than either of my former sporty Volvos. I took advantage of an IPD sale, and got 18" alloy wheels that I liked (and could afford). I would have preferred 17", but none of this type available, and others I just didn't care for.
So, I now have to go +2 for these wheels. I am roughly thinking 235/45-18 will keep me pretty close to OEM sizing for the 16" stock wheels. Has anyone here done a +2 wheel upgrade on stock V70XC suspension? If so, what tire sizes are confirmed to work and clear the well?
Secondly, I was thinking of going for the IPD sway bars. When I had my 244 Turbo, I got IPD's (largest) 25mm size, front and rear. I was pleased with this setup, and would like to do the same on the XC70. Should I use the sway bars for the V70XC (22/25mm) or the swaybars for the 2001 V70R? Has anyone used the V70R IPD bars on a V70XC?
I am hoping that with tighter sway bars and lower profile, more road-oriented tires, the V70XC will handle a bit more focused and less roll-y. I know that it is not a V70R AWD. I like what I have, just want it to be a bit tighter. Is this a good approach?
