s40 2000 front Left roaring/grinding noise when heater on

There is a roaring/grinding noise when I turn the heater on only in the heat/defrost mode and when I accelerate. No noise when I don't push gas or other heater position, the noise comes from around the hydraulic pump but I'm not sure exactly where, again only when I turn the heater on the defrost position and accelerate.
any help appreciated.
