Volvo S60 P0121 code - ETM, Sacer TPS?

Post by matheusff »

I have a S60 2.4T 2001, and I have a problem with ETM.
I found the code P0121, and symptoms of the problem are the following:
When I hit the throttle (+ -70%), the pedal stops responding.
When I kick down the throttle (100%) the engine responds, but when I release the throttle pedal I lose the brake (pedal gets hard), the engine becomes unstable, and the throttle position is still 100% on the ECU measure. To fix this I need to hit the throttle again up to 100% and release slowly. Then the brake back to work and the engine is stable again.

I bought a TPS Sacer.
But have not found the right way to install the part.
Could you help me?
How should I measure the voltages?

Thanks!

ImageTake a look at these pics I made of procedure.

Always measure the voltage at the replacement sensor BEFORE removing the sensor. When testing the voltage just use a clamp to keep the new sensor on then remove it quickly to adjust the magnet rotation.

With your unit check that the throttle flap isn't binding as the magnet can stick on the armature in the other end of the casing to the sensor you replace. If it's binding and you are certain the bore is clean you may have to grind all 5 pins down on the opposite side and remove the bulb end to expose the armature wires then grind them off the posts.

After that remove throttle flap and remove burrs from throttle shaft with dremmel as the screws on the throttle shaft are stamped on their ends to prevent their loss. After doing this slide out magnet and check the aluminium sheathing for evidence of chafing to the armature. If it has been chafing you can remove 0.25mm from each side of the oval shaped ends.

Sacer's flimsy instructions are attached as a PDF, not that they really help at all.

Just set up voltage on sensor 2 (Sacer side) at anywhere between 1.3 and 1.5 volts between pins 1 and 3 of Sacer sensor with ignition on.
