I have a 1998 c70 withthe premium sound I'm going to put a new head unitI was wondering how many ohmsare the speakers in the car because I would also like to put a new amp since you cannot use the stock amp with the aftermarket HU or can I still use the stock amp with an aftermarket head unit

Assuming your new headunit has RCA outputs for the amp connection purchase an adapter to go between the RCA outlets and the DIN plug as they are readily available, plug the RCA outputs in to the adapter then connect the DIN plug that feeds the amp in to the other end of the adapter. The adapter should also have a single blue wire coming from it, this should be connected to the headunits amp remote on/ off wire as it will switch the OEM amp on and off when connected. One such item on the auction site see Here or simply visit Radio Shack and purchase the bits to make your own assuming you know how to solder - Mike

Your car has the Dynaudio speaker system which cost a lot of money when new and is matched to the factory fit amp so I wouldn't look at wasting money swapping that lot out as it is very good to start with, this also negates a heck of a lot of wiring in the car as you can use everything Volvo fitted when they built it.

The centre speaker is a Volvo specific bit of kit, I am not too sure any after market headunits will be capable of driving it so you will loose that capability with a non Volvo headunit - Mike

With the stock Volvo headunit the front and rear main speakers are fed from the amp, the centre speaker in the dash is fed from the headunit directly so unless the headunit you are fitting has an amplified output for a centre dialogue speaker (which I don't think it has) it won't be able to drive the dash mounted speaker.

The stock C70 amp in the Volvo is 4 x 100W - Mike

The blue wire from the amp adapter cable needs to go to the amp remote power on output from the headunit, I would also take the Blue/ White wire from the headunit connector A pin 3 and connect this to the amp remote power on output from the headunit as this is the wire that controls the aerial - Mike
