Volvo V70 headlights

Can anyone tell me if the headlights on a Volvo 850 would fit my 2000 Volvo V70 classic 2.4 petrol manual MK1, has anybody got any ideas?
My headlights are tarnished and won't pass the MOT in march 2014, gives me a bit of time to sort it.

850 lights won't fit the V70, you need a set from a phase one V70 or S70 or C70. When the reflectors in mine went bad I treated the car to a pair of projector lens headlights in to which you can legally (in the UK) fit HID's for an even brighter light output with very good beam pattern control, to be legal for HIDs you need the beam height adjustment, wash/ wipe for the headlights and projector lenses all of which my V70 has - The result is way better than the standard Volvo headlights making driving on unlit country roads seem more akin to daylight when they are switched on without dazzling other road users - Mike

Thanks again Mike for your prompt reply , my old boy is nearly thirteen years old , but with only 83000 genuine miles on the clock and in very good condition , I might treat him to a new set as you suggest.

03-04 C70 clear jewel lights are a direct bolt in, this is the way to go.
Great looking, about 3 times the light output, etc
Only thing is that they're not cheap

Hi again, Is it possible to re-spray the headlight reflectors with a good quality chrome spray, and would they work correctly

I searched high and low and tried a few paints listed as chrome. I even used modeler's paint used for chrome details on automobile models. None of these were reflective like chrome. The paints were dull much like the failed chrome on the reflectors already failed coating.

The only thing I have seen that comes close to working is heat reflective aluminium self adhesive tape applied in small sections eventually building up to full reflector coverage, it takes time to do well but can get you a few months out of a bad set of reflectors, this is a technique employed on front and rear lights see Here for one such example.
There is a thread on the UK VOC forum where someone did this to a set of V70 headlights, the car then passed its annual inspection test but I can't find that thread at the moment - Mike

Unless your coming the other way into the pretty blue lights and can't see anything.
