1998 S70 no PVC nipple? (possible early replacement head)

And this is the second mention of the epoxy/oil filler cap method. Can anyone elaborate on this? I only have one PCV tube and I'd really prefer to not go back to the junk yard every time I screw up this epoxy job. Is there a specific heat rating for certain epoxy adhesive? Which epoxy would work for this high heat application?

I'll do a little research on this this morning. Loctite makes pretty good stuff, well documented on the web.

You could also probably mount a threaded pipe adapter with a barbed fitting and avoid gluing.

Warning....some inspection stations in NY will open your hood, see a modified PVC , and fail your inspection on the spot. Get your ducks in a row before you do the mod.

I love in Maryland and they just do OBDII testing and check under the vehicle, so I'm safe there. Has the pipe adapter method been used before?

I'm pulling this idea out of thin air. If the attach point on the cylinder head vents down to the sump, then this is not going to work. I have a bad feeling this is the case, based on pictures I remember posted here....maybe Roberts? (Rspi)

Ok, hang tough. Just because the vent might go to the sump, it might not fail. The older head cars had to vent somehow too (draft PVC systems went out in the 70s, like taste in music)

Goal here is to get you inspectable, smogable, wheels after all.

Think positive like a cation.

You're right. I guess I'll have to find out exactly what year the head is and go from there. Anyone know solid indicators? I imagine only a small number of different heads would be compatible with this motor.

I just scanned the OVC repair forum and I'm 95% convinced its top vent only. Lets wait till one if the more knowledgable guys confirms though.

It's only venting the cylinder head, and a pipe into the oil filler cap should work IMHO.
