ETM Failure, or Oil Pan Seals/Gaskets?

Post by andrewbryan12 »

Hey guys, so I have a 2001 non-turbo Volvo s60 with 99k. I'm experiencing some issues that I'm really concerned about. To start off, I cleaned my ETM a couple weeks ago, and got an oil change yesterday. The problem I'm having relays the following console error messages, "No oil pressure stop engine" or "No oil pressure stop engine ASAP". When these warnings pop up, I'm usually coming down from a high rpm and coasting, or slowing down for a stop light. Occasionally my RPMs will dip to like 5-600 but then they will bounce back up to 900. Now, when my engine is warm and I'm at a stoplight, the error message is almost steady. It goes on and off. However, when the engine temp is cold, these messages do not come up, and my car more or less works like a charm. I'm stuck between replacing my ETM, or getting my oil pan seals replaced. I know it's one of the two problems, and I'm really hoping someone can give me some clarification on this matter. I want to figure it out before my Volvo dies, I'm a college student on a tight budget. Thanks in advance guys! :)

Just saw this post and wondering if you solved your issue. Sounded like a ect sensor failure. Coolant temp needs to be accurately measured on later cars and the ECU may tell the throttle body to idle too low, therefore causing oil pressure drop

Replacing the ECT may help

Turns out it was a gunked up PCV system. Had the breather replaced along with some hoses!
