S40 2000 interior fan speed

Post by Guest »

Please can someone assist in the S40 2000 model interior fan speed problems.

Fan only runs at full speed! whatever the speed setting.

Luckely only when the ignition is on.

Is there someone with a link for the electrical circuit diagrams for his model?

I don't know if you'll even be checking the replies as it's been 10 months since the posted question, but I just joined so maybe it's timing or worth a shot.

Anyway, I had to take it to the dealer where they diagnosed it as a problem with the "blower motor resistor". It was replaced with what the work order states as a "transistor". Part cost...114.50 (Cnd $) and took 1/2 hour labour ($108/hr)

So far, so good.

If the Fan blows on high ONLY or not at all, which is what mine did, it is the TRANSISTOR. Volvo part 30864189. The transistor steps the power up & down. It is no. 15 on the diagram. myswedishparts.com has it for approx $72.00. I called the Stealership and they said $113.00. (The MSRP is 84.83). I told them I could get it at myswedishparts.com and they agreed to sell it to me for $84.83. Just amazing how they have such flexibility with those prices :x

S40 girl,

I didn't realize you could get the "stealership" to lower their price when confronting them with competitor prices. Are you talking about Canadian locations? Has this always worked for you?

My dealership is the same. There is generally a huge mark-up on their parts prices (not to mention what they charge for labor). Btw, if you're a VCOA (Volvo Club of America) member, you automatically get a 10% discount on both.
