I have a 2002 volvo v70 that I need to change the thermostat on. It has the newer style thermostat that comes as a complete assembly with the sensor. I am wondering if there is a tutorial somewhere that would guide me. I have looked all over and the best info I can find is that I need to take off the power steering pump. Does anyone have any other important info that would help guide me in the right direction?
Thanks

If it was just that easy I would have already done that, but its not. The thermostat can only be purchased as an assembly, and the thermostat inside the assembly looks nothing like the traditional $5 Stant that everyone in the world is used to. It all has to be changed together from what I have read, but I can't find the instructions for the procedure. Even the volvo computer manual is very vague on what needs to be done. I was hoping someone on here had already done a thermostat like this and would be able to say remove this and that and there are two bolt, and I would be very great full

I have V70 model year 2002 built at the end of 2001, N/A engine (B5244S). Did thermostat twice, it is just a thermostat. Bought at dealer and indy Volvo garage - no problem.

Here it is, yes I can see that the housing will separate, but the thermostat cannot be purchased by itself.

Who said that? You can buy it online in many places, i.e.: http://www.fcpeuro.com/Volvo-parts/V70/ ... m=20&e=153 Dealer will sell it as well.
