850 central locking
850 central locking
Just came out from work at lunchtime, and central locking appears to be not working! It appears to be enabling and disabling the immobiliser, but not the central locking! The remote fob gives three clicks when you press the unlock/lock button. Any thoughts?

Can you elaborate a bit more on the symptoms?
Does the locking work with the lock switch but not the remote?
Does it lock but not unlock, unlock but not lock, or neither lock or unlock?
The European cars had several different options on the locking and alarm system and most of the North American cars just had the basic locking and alarm systems. The pool of knowledge here tends to be the deepest with the standard system but I think many of the problem areas are the same. If you know which version of the alarm you have it would direct us to the correct schematics.
A common problem sit the standard system is that it will lock and then quickly unlock itself again which is usually a switch problem in the doors, most often with the tailgate / boot latch switch.

Hi Lee
It works on when I use the key in the lock, not from the remote.
From the remote it is neither locking or unlocking... but the remote is making 3 clicks, something I've never heard it do before!
When I initially opened the car using the key in the drivers door, the car would not start all lights on but nothing on the key turn. When I pressed the unlock/lock on the remote, indicator lights flashed and I guess the immobiliser was turn off, and it would start.
I don't know which option of locking and alarm is fitted, or where to find out, unless someone can point me in the right direction.

Last night when I got home it the central locking locked from the drivers door.... it wasn't doing anything when I left work, had to open the passenger door from inside as none of the other doors had operated. What a pain?
But the remote is still giving three clicks when I press it?

I think I would try a new battery in the remote first.

So even with new batteries in the remote still something's not right!
Opening via the remote is intermittent forcing me to use the key which only opens the drivers door no central locking, however the immobiliser is working on the remote! Just now went I left the house the remote worked the locking again!!! Any ideas???
