1998 v70 tdi upshift light flashing an no kickdown

hi I have a Volvo v70 tdi With an auto tranny. When I start The car, upshift arrow does not flash, but When it has been running for 20 sec or so, The arrow starts to blink, regardless if I put it in drive or It is just idling in park. also The leds on tranny starts flashing, The buttons for economy, sport and Winther. I dont know if these buttons is working, as I cant feel The car is behaving different, regardless witch Button I push.

the kickdown is not working either, but I Can force it down by pull The gear stick.

anyone who has an idea for what The problem might be? and help is appreciated

Did you checked transmission oil level?
Transmission arrow (orange arrow)indicates a problem with transmission.
There will be a code(s) stored in TCU.
If you have Vol-Fcr read the codes & post them here.If you don't have it,you must go to a dealership to read the codes or to buy Vol-Fcr from Amazon or E-bay for around 15-20$.

Universal code readers can't read the codes from TCU and you will need a special Volvo scan tool.

Hi misha, I recently flushed The tranny with 10ltr dx3, and The oil Level is spot on. The oil didn't get a clear red colour as I ran out of oil, but I think most of it is new. The upshift arrow was flashing before the oil change.

I will go to amazon and buy a vol-fcr, and read codes. Does this read codes for the whole car, or is it just for the tranny?

This could be a simple P&P switch problem. With the engine off, try rowing the shifter from R to L about 20 times rapidly and see if the arrow goes away.
The S/E/W lights will blink with the dash arrow, it is designed that way. If you push the putton for W, the arrow will also light in the dash. It is suggested to never use the W unless you are stuck on ice.

There are very few VOL-FCR scanners and they are very expensive.

I altso have Read about this pnp switch, I have tried to move the gear stick from P -2 15 times without the arrow goes away. Maybe it's time to unbolt this switch and get it properly cleaned? The car starts both in P and N.

Cleaning will do no good if it is worn out. Get the codes read first before spending 100 Euros on a new switch.

You can read the codes for the whole car,including service light reset.

If the engine menagement is MSA 15.7 you will be able to read the engine codes too.
