1999 s70 t5 sitting for a month
1999 s70 t5 sitting for a month
So I attempted the dash repair and decided to call it off as I found a way to rig it ( Don't ask) .......So....I put the dash all back together fired it up...ran a little rough.....then seemed to clear....i checked 3 of the 5 plugs and they seemed fine...but the head was HOT!!! I had it idle for about 10 minutes .......but it was HOT...HOT....not by the gauge...but hot.....and this is what came out of the back tail pipe (see pic) condensation and black soot.....Do you think the cat could be plugged? or something along those lines

If the car sits for any length of time it is always a good idea to pull the plugs and give it an once of oil or so, pull the Fuel Pump Relay and crank it over 5 to 6 times. You'll find the car starts much better without the roughness. As for the HOT, HOT hope it is not a Thermostat that is stuck and or the Heat could just be perception? Keep an eye on the Temp Gauge "operation". The water should be just condensate from the exhaust sitting and being cold for so long. Drive it a bit and keep an eye on the Temp Gauge! One month is not very long for a car to sit.

When I pulled the plugs they looked good, very little moisture on the boots for the coil packs. When I pulled the plastic cover for the coil packs I could not even hold the screws in my hand.....Maybe I was just paranoid as I did not give it time to cool down...

I apologize when I said pulled the Plugs and give it an once of oil. What I meant to say was when you have not started a car for awhile you need to pull the Spark Plugs before you start it and added an ounce of oil into the Spark Plug hole and crank it 5 to 6 times. Before you crank it however take out the Fuel Pump Relay. The Piston Rings will be wet and have a better seal when you first start the car. The reason for pulling the Fuel Pump Relay is so you do not have fuel in the Combustion Chamber when you crank the engine to lubricate the Piston Ring.
When the car sits for a long time it take a bit for the oil to circulate so you have low compression and lot of fuel on the Combustion Chamber that is why it runs rough for a little bit.
