2000 volvo s70 turbo pcv system
I wonder if someone can tell me if the rubber glove over the oil filler cap is a reliable test to find out if your pcv system is clogged. I have a 2000 s70 turbo - when I put the rubber glove over the oil filler opening with the motor running, the glove blows up like a balloon. I'm told this is a fairly sure sign that there is a problem with the PCV being clogged. I tried opening the dipstick about few inches but no smoke came from the dipstick tube. I'm also told that my system is most likely really clogged. Can anyone confirm that test? Thanks.

My dipstick did NOT smoke either but the ports in the block were pretty clogged.

The rubber glove is a self explanatory and simple, cheap and basic method to observe whether their is a vacuum or positive crankcase pressure when the engine is running. Provided it is well sealed around the oil filler opening it achieves the desired result.
The positive pressure will soon blow the seals if it gets excessively high.
