98 v70. Oil leak

Are these plates on the back of the block prone to leak. Im at wit's end with this leak. PVT is cleaned, cam seals are done, new seal on oil line to turbo off block, return line looks good. Oil is coming from above that area though gathering on these plates and bolt heads, also collects on bevel gear box can't see how its traveling there though. Seems to collect on the cooling tube that run along the back of the motor also. Im going nuts, really i am.

They are not prone to leak. Doesn't mean they aren't but I can not remember ever seeing a documented case.

Is there oil on top of the cam cover? Oil cap seal?

It dry above the cooling line, all the leaking oil is below that line of reference. Im about ready to pull the bevel gear. Crazy! You just cant see anything.

Yes I have had to replace the seals on those plates before. The gasket kit only cost about $7 or $11 at the dealer. One of them was leaking pretty bad.

Oil was everywhere. It took me a while to figure out where it was coming from.

It sounds like the plates are a decent bet then. Sorry about all the AWD being in the way!

But to be clear: they are not prone to leaking, that is a rare leak. Robert's is the only one I know of (yes, there are no doubt others ...).

Ok! Now would you know if there is oil pressure behind these plates, and if the leaking oil would drip around the bevel gear box area? Seems like i lose more oil driving vs. Idling. Thx again lucky me to, Im going nuts guys, Im a fixer and love fixing stuff, it my puzzle in life. Im starting to hate fixing things.lol

If it were me, I would find a lift and spray everything with engine cleaner.
Hose it off, then wipe it all off. Make sure that all the visible oil is gone then drive it for a couple of hundred miles, then you should be able to find the leak(s) much more easily.

Well, those things were hard for me to find. When the oil starts to drip from those plates the whirl wind throws it everywhere. I had oil all over the back side of my cams (thought it was a turbo line leak), all under the car etc. Really wouldn't leak while parked on ramps and when I drove 10 miles or so, there was to much of a mess to pin point it. I found that leak by cleaning everything down and driving 2 blocks and back on the rams.

She has been cleaned several times, The 2 block low speed run sounds about right she leaks pretty good while driving. Your description sounds like my situation RSPI. I also put dye in the oil. It must spray and atomize pretty good. I see there is a tip nozzle behind those plates, do they oil the rods or pistons? Thx everyone for your help.
