2004 v70 Pricing help

Hello,
I am looking at a 2004 v70 2.4 auto with 60k miles and was hoping for some help in determining if it is a good deal or not. The owner wants $7500. Its a clean title car that is in really good cosmetic condition ( very good to excellent) with no issues with paint or interior. Has leather power seats, power sunroof, no third row.

I am going to bring it to a shop to get a prepurchase inspection this weekend as owner claims there is no mechanical issues but i always like to get a professional opinion. As for value, KBB lists it as being worth 6200-6500 while NADA lists it at 7200-7900. Both take into consideration mileage and condition. Any thoughts or opinions (on value) would be greatly appreciated.

I apologize if this is in the wrong area but I wasn't sure since classifieds section says not to use that forum for that.

Only 60k miles, or the engine has been replaced?
Check if the timing belt has been changed, and if the PCV hose running from under the middle of the engine cover looks good, no cracks. If the car has all maintenance records, it's a good deal under $7k. Check dash board for messages (left panel) and average consumption in city drive, as well as transmission for smooth shifting.

Thanks for the help. From the photos he just sent, the dash show 0 messages, though I will check that in person. It is 60k original miles and he claims to have all of the service records though I will have to confirm that as well. I will have to ask about the timing belt and make sure to look at the PCV hose.

When I go the the shop (Indpt volvo shop) do I need to ask for them to check anything else specifically. Someone mentioned I should have them use a paint meter to check if any unreported collision repairs have been done. Seems like an odd request but perhaps not. Any one have any experience on these type of inspections and what to ask for specifically?

On my wife's '01 S60 and my '02 V70 the timing belt replacement is at 105K, so at 60K it doesn't need one.
When you take it in for an inspection if they can't tell you anything about the paint take it to a good body shop. Those guys can spot a repair and respray from a mile away.

60k is well short of the recommended 105k for a timing belt replacement however the car is 10 years old next year so may be near ready for replacing anyway.
Worth at least a visual inspection after unscrewing the timing belt cover and you will also sight any camseal leaks or weeping water pump if they are problems poised to pounce soon.

You are right about the belt, still, it might be a good time for a safety check giving the age but theoretically it should be still good for quite a while.

If the car is actually as you describe it, the price seems good. Someone was willing to pay that much for the DW's 02 V70T with twice the mileage recently. Expect that it might need struts, control arm, sway bar linkages, these are wear items.

All of the service records, 60k, no problems in an inspection... $7500 is fair. Not a steal, not a rip. Decent deal IMHO.

Still, I'd offer less just to try it.
