1999 s70 t5 timing belt

Post by bigdawg74 »

my s70 t5 has the hydraulic tensioner timing belt but all the listings at the autoparts seem to be with the mechanical tensioner because my car was made before a certain date. would I be safe to get the full kit from a 1998

Are you sure it is a 1999? Is there a VVT actuator on the exhaust cam or an electronic throttle body?

i was considering doing the timing belt because even though it is about 40 000km away from needing to be done it has been sitting for a year without running, i took the cover off and the belt looks good with no cracks and some real miner rust on the pulley surfaces but it makes no bearing noises or anything so i think i will hold off till i get some extra cash in the bank and do the full job in the spring with all the seals and water pump. i only do about 10k km a year .
