1998 Volvo S70 2.4L 5cyl 170K P172,P440, Stalling Hard Left

Hi,

Replaced MAF with Volvo OEM 3 months ago. I replaced purge valve with cylinder valve instead of square OEM. I replaced hose connecting it to engine but hose line hasn't but clamped down. I clean MAF regularly with appropriate spray and dry before re-attaching it. Now when my car is in a hard left turn and I accelerate, the car hesitates (jutting) and finally stalled out. I brought up OBD codes 172 and 440 but did not read any electronic codes thinking maybe wires lose around steering wheel. I also notice my turn radius is quite loose. I turn the wheel 3 or 4 rotations to turn 45 degrees either way. Is there a way to tighten it up so I can turn the wheel less to turn?

The hose from the purge valve is hard and not flexible. How do you replace that hose, it seems to go underneath the engine?

Also there is an electronic buzz coming from a/c unit while car is motion. When I hit around 50 mph, it buzzes intermittently. I turn the a/c off and it stops. The sound maybe electronic but not familiar with what component would make an electronic chirp or buzz.
Thanks

Nicholas

does your power steering pump cry at you when this happens? ive never heard of steering coming loose so that it takes more turns to get the same effect. its possible maybe that either your rack and pinion and/or power steering pump are going and over loading the motor? or that could combine with ac compressor issues and cause a stall. how does the serpentine belt look on both sides? you could have part of the accessory drive locking up under load, which is what im thinking. or you have a fuel regulation issue and its dumping mass amounts of fuel into the intake during the turn. see any smoke?

I don't hear anything failing on me other than probably the a/c compressor. These models are known for evap problems. Now I replaced the hose from purge valve to intake manifold with 1/4 rather than 5/8 which is smaller that is connected from bottom of purge valve and seems to run down to the fuel tank. Does the bigger hose going to intake affect the operation of the purge valve? Being rich means a fuel issue not air. But are there any fault codes to indicate power steering pump failure?

When I accelerate from a stop position, I hear a groan from the back of the car. And I wish it was my girlfriend not my car LOL. Maybe I have a clogged hose fuel line, I don't know.

a groan from the back? like an exhaust groan? could your cat be collapsing from running rich. stuff inside may shift while going left. unless the stalling is at any speed, even slow speeds. then that couldnt explain it. you could even have a torn vac line thats held in place until it moves around a left turn.. nothings impossible lol, just unlikely. take a look at your plugs, they usually have a story to tell. make sure your distributor is tight. and just cause it happens on a hard turn, check that nothing is caught on a moving steering component. you could be tugging on something, possibly causing a short. which in fact could cause ignition interruption, resulting in a stall. go over the basics before you drive yourself nuts on the obscure things possible.
