Mountain trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Post by jblackburn »

One of the first trips my girlfriend and I went on as a new couple was to a cabin in West Jefferson, NC. We've been wanting to do that again after only being able to afford a day trip last time to the close-by Shenandoah Parkway.

We booked a place in Fancy Gap, VA, about a 5-hour drive away from Northern VA.

Friday and Monday were driving days, with a stop-off for some of our favorite food places near where I went to school in Blacksburg.

Saturday was foggy as heck, so it was nice to sit back and relax. Sunday we spent exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway (part of NC and VA) and a winery up the road from us.

And last but not least, some of the best southern food that I've ever had.

It's a great place to get away and do nothing for a day or two. During the summer months, it can be 20 degrees cooler in the mountains compared to Salisbury, N.C.
