Working on my friend's 93 240 wagon that is dripping fuel from the main fuel pump. Replaced the check valve because it appeared to leaking there, but it continues to leak from the front (electrical connection end) of the pump. No leakage evident from the input end of the pump. Crossover pipe is disconnected and pump still leaks. The pump does run and pumps fuel. It appears to leak from the cast part that is crimped into the pump body. Haven't gotten the pump off the car yet. Have never seen an external fuel pump that leaked and worked.
How do I remove the pump? Take the clamp off completely or loosen the clamp with the torx bolt that can't be reached? See picture.
Thanks,
Greg

Project update:
Went to Pic-a-Part yesterday and took a main pump off a 740. Figured out how things came apart in the process. Removed leaking pump on the 240 wagon this afternoon and upon examination learned that the cast portion of the pump where the electrical connections and the check valve are located actually rotates withing the outer aluminum casing, thereby leaking at that interface. Put the junkyard pump on and all is well!
