Hey! I got an answer to the shifter problem within a day, here's the next one:
Has anyone found a source for the three round knobs on the climate control? Ours had the "soft" rubber finish which has turn to a sticky mess - same thing for the headlight control knob.
I was able to get a set of smaller knobs for the radio from the dealer, but they said no-go for the climate control.
Alternately, can the sticky, rubber finish be removed, leaving the plastic knob shell?
Many thanks,

I'm in the same position with my temperature selection knob.
I read somewhere but can't find it now that pledge and a microfibre cloth takes away the stickiness. I haven't tried it yet but there's no harm in giving that a try.

Hi
I had a spare knob so have started to remove sticky coating
It's hard to remove but looks fine , the only thing its a painted finish
So care is needed when removing coating
not sure how long the paint would take to wear off , maybe some clear coat to protect it

I think it is some certain brands like 'Armoral' or similar vinyl restoring products that react with the surface of the knobs thus leaving the awful sticky effect on them.
I read about the pledge cleaner on an earlier forum thread and tried experimenting gently on one knob but it wasn't successful either.
In some vehicles vinyl restorers can even remove the white writing, symbols or direction arrows on the steering column stalks if one applies it too liberally.

May not be what you're looking for but you can buy replacement rings that have the aluminum finish.
