1988 240 New blower motor resistor not working

Post by cascadia »

Undertook the infamous blower motor replacement today  . Dis-assembly and replacement went fine following the lead of many others. However, when I made the connections and turned on the fan I only get one setting-high. This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the resistor. The motor, resistor and switch are all brand new from ipd.

Did I miss a connection somewhere? Is it possible that the resistor is bad? Perhaps I will remove the wire terminals from the plastic connector and hook them directly to the switch-it seems loose and the wires are not fully seated inside. Any problems with this idea? Or any other suggestions?

I hope it is not the resistor as I really do not want to have to go back in there....

Thanks

I am in the same boat, Cascadia. Did everything you did exactly. Even bought the stuff from IPD!
I have a new (had to pay for it) resistor coming and hate to tear everything apart again. I wired it according to IPD's instructions, too. Same outcome as you- just one speed.

Did you ever get yours figured out???
