1998 S70, which REAR Brake Pad that does NOT squeal?

OK,

This has been discussed here on and off. The topic is:
Which REAR Brake Pad that does NOT squeal?

In my previous 1998 V70, and the current 1998 S70 GLT, I use Volvo OEM rear pads, they squeal during braking about 50% of the time. I have tried all kinds of stuff: re-installed them, even used "anti-squeal" compound between the back of the pad and the piston, problem is still there.

I don't know who makes them, but all I see the "Volvo OEM pads, made in India", whatever that means.

So, I am thinking:
- Pagid (I have this in my BMW)
- Jurid (I have used this brand before and I like it)
- Textar

- Even Autozone $16 pads.

Attached is a photo of potential choices, any feedback is appreciated! I want quiet REAR pads...

I have had really good results with Akebono pads, anti squeal shims from FCP and a liberal amount of Permatex Extreme brake part lubricant:

This is what I installed on my old 850 in the rear and I never had squealing brakes again.

I just called Autozone, the MKD31 is made in India, whatever that means, so likely same as "Volvo OEM" lol.

Remember there are parking brake shoes in the drum which could be the source of the squeaking too.

I have only tried the Blue Box OEM Volvo rear brake pads on my '97 855 GLT and they have worked well -- no squeaks. I'm on my third set of these pads at ~170k miles. The last time I loaded them in I also used FCP's aftermarket stainless shims plus a liberal layer of ATE Plastilube grease on the backs of the pads. So far, no trouble.
FWIW, up front I put in Akebono pads and they are good -- no dust, no squeaks.

OEM + shims = no squealing for me.

I bought the S70 without the shims, though, and they squealed like crazy. You could hear it from a block away.

I'm quite happy with the Akenbono's I've put on the front - they've made it well over 60K by now.

No squealing ever and no dust.

I've never had troubles with squealing pads.. as long as it was semi-metallic ones. Ceramic type might squeal.
