2007 S80 Replacing Gear Shifter Knob Cover
Hey guys I recently bought my S80 from a good friend, but he had a knack for always keeping his hand on the shifter knob and it wore out the cover entirely. Just wanted to go to an upholstery shop to get a replacement piece of material for it, but have no idea how to remove it. The shifter itself is fine, just want to replace the cover.

The shift knob pulls straight off of the shifter assembly, It isn't an easy job. I had to put a piece of plywood down on the seat and use a long pry bay to get enough leverage to pull the knob off. The lower plastic trim piece comes up from the back of the trim. You can pull on the rear of the boot and it should pop up. Then the plastic ring that retains the boot is accessible by 4 clips on the bottom of the trim piece, be aware not to stretch the wires to the gear selector assembly. The boot pops up out of the trim piece. Good luck and do not hurt yourself pulling the knob. It will pop right back on with a good thump with your palm.
