I've been using Mobil 1 5w30 in my 2001 V70 non turbo. I live in Central Florida. Is there a better oil that I should be using? I have bought a supply of Mann filters (was using Purolator). Any suggestions?

I just changed my oil,,,,I went to remove the filter cover and broke that tool also,,the one with the 3/8 hole in the tool. That last mechanic must have used air tools to install that cover!!!! So now,,I have clean oil and an old filter. I cant be more pissed. At least the tool was $4 .

Did you use the black thin metal wrench? There is another one more solid not sure if in the link it's the right size for your car but it's the same kind

The first time, I have tighten the cover more, and it was a pain to remove it the next oil change. Just 'hand' tighten when the two surface start touching it's enough.

thats what I had,,it was black wrench with a few spot welds on a round disk with a square 3/8ths hole for the ratchet. The wrench kept slipping off the flats on the side of the cover. I stuck my rubber glove to try making more snug. Then all of a sudden, crack! The spot welded center with the square hole broke free from the wrench. So,,I had no choice but to leave it. Now i have fresh oil with old oil and an old filter. I need to pick up that solid unit. 86mm ? (2001 v70xc)

Yes 86mm with 16 sides. It seems pretty tight if it broke the welding.. It can be surprisingly tight, perhaps because the contact surface is quite large given the size of the cover.
