1997 850 radio says "OFF"

I just purchased a 1997 850 wagon and when I push the power button for the radio it says "OFF". I tried disconnecting the battery, no luck. What do I need to do to get it to say CODE?

Leave the ignition in position 2 for two hours, then code will appear.

If yours is the original radio you need to call a Volvo dealer (some dealers require you physically show up with proof of ID) with your VIN number and they will give you a 4 digit code.

Because someone has already tried to input the wrong pin code on yours 3 times you will need to leave ignition on in position II for 2 hours then input the code the dealer gives you.

If that radio is not the original the dealer can use serial numbers from the radio to obtain the pin code.

If you call one dealer and they don't give you the code, call another in another state.

Once you have the code you can upload it here to Matthews where you can access it even if you are scooba diving in Haiti!!

As theft of Volvo radios is almost non-existent and the person stealing it would have to know that post is yours it's a great idea
