1997 850 GLT Low Boost Issues

Hello there, i had just bought a 97 850 GLt, I had it for about 3 days now, great running car love this thing but just yesteday it just stopped producing the correct amount of boost! Still runs drives idles and handles like it has 5000 miles on it! So im guessing/hoping it isnt something major because i dont have deep pockets at the momment! Much/any help wouldbe greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to the site. I have a '97 855 GLT and I love it too. It's a great car! I installed a boost gauge a while back to see how much pressure the turbo builds up under various operating conditions. It seldom goes above 3-5 psi above atmospheric pressure, often when accelerating up a hill -- at least that's been my experience in general... How much boost are you getting with yours?

Thanks, heard this is the place to go if u have a volvo related question, and as of now i have no boost guage so i dont know exactly how much im making but i can just feel that the car isnt taking off like it use to! I need my GLT to come back to life! lol

Were you cleaning the engine bay, or changing plugs, or poking around? If so, you probably knocked a vacuum line off. Look around for vacuum lines with no mate. Or deteriorated/leaky vacuum line elbows.

Only thing i did was replace the yellow and blue vacuum lines from the turbo control valve, cleaned the maf sensor and replaced the air filter. Ill check to see if there are any detached lines and corroded elbows and check back with more! Thanks for your input!

If the vacuum hoses are up to snuff, and the TCV is good. I wonder if your bypass valve is bad?

If it was boosting fine before you replace the vac lines then its something you probably did. I would go back and make sure everything is hooked up correctly.
