If you do just one thing over the holidays...

Go out and buy a toy or two for a kid that is most likely going to have a crappy Christmas.

Every year, I take my boys out shopping and have them pick out a kickass toy. Legos are good, since I've never seen a kid that doesn't like them. Any toy that isn't cheap and doesn't need any batteries. Then we go donate them, usually at a church or local organization. Basically, any place where the system manipulators aren't going to be.

We also go buy a big ass bag of dog food and cat food and a big box of bones and take those to the animal shelter...most of the dogs and cats I've met in my life are pretty cool and my dogs always come from the shelter.

My fat little Princess is from the Humane society, she sat there for over a year before I scooped her up.

If the world was blessed with people who were more thoughtful and generous if even once a year, could you imagine the effects? Very well said&I hope all will do the dog&catfood donation to their local shelters (animal) lol &if you dont donate to a childs xmas, at least an act of kindness to the less fortunate would have a"pay it forward"affect. all,&happy holidays!coolant flush will keep sensors thermostat and hoses happy longer!I love my 1st

Been doing this for a few years now. There's a local battered woman's shelter organization. I meet one of their folks after discussing with them their needs in a parking lot with a big bag of toys and other sundries. Pretty good feeling and it goes straight to those that need no salary's being paid for.

My wife and I go to a seniors rest home (assisted living facility) twice per week to help them with activities. The older folks really enjoy our help. We play Jingo, do cooking projects, etc. I'm trying to get some $$ together to have a lady come in and do their finger nails monthly.

If anyone needs to know of a good channel to give gifts to kids all over the world (including USA) check out this link. This organization is Christian based (disclaimer).

We participate in this program every year. Our kids pack a bunch of shoe boxes with toys and other goodies. Our church collects them at the end of November (usually around 400 of them) and sends them out to Samaritans Purse. The neat thing is that you can get tracking info on where your boxes actually went.
