96 850 GLT Broken hose at ???

In the front of my naturally aspirated 850 engine, is a device with a hose going to the throttle body and the other end goes to the intake. It is big like a heater hose but has the smell of fuel, I suspect egr something? It has an electrical connector and looks to deal with exhaust gases?

In any event I broke the darn hose, it is different IDs on each end, can I just block both ends for an emergency road trip?

If the device is silver and cylindrical that is your idle air control valve. The hose runs from the vacuum tree to the valve itself and it is kinda important. The car will want to stall if you just block it off.
