Looking to buy a 2001 V70 T5

Hi all

I am currently looking to purchase one of these wagons after my Subaru was totaled in an accident

Had previously looked at these but ended up with a forester instead :p
Now I am back looking at them

I have read many stories about the auto transmission in these and have been trying to locate a manual one but am not having alot of luck

Are they all the autos really that bad?
There are a bunch close to me but all autos

Should I hold out for a manual or

I've had an '01 V70 T5 for 8 years and have done ALL the classic repairs including, most recently, rebulding the Aisin-Warner 55-50/51 Geartronic transmission. I still love this car. Its taught me a great deal and cost me a bit, too. If you're somewhat mechanically inclined, are able to ferret out arcane info from online and other sources, can get in touch with your inner contortionist and have a modest reserve of funds, you might enjoy owning this car. I wouldn't know how to act with a manual trans. I babied my auto tranny with flushes every 30K miles and got 185K out of it. Your mileage may vary; if you buy one with an auto trans. Check the fluid color. Be prepared to spend at least one weekend a month with your car, maybe more, maybe less. Some major components are poorly designed; retooled ones are available. It seems that many of the mistakes made in this first-year car have been addressed with aftermarket solutions or specialized maintenance schedules.
